Gypsum Stone (Raw Gypsum)

Gypsum stone, also known by its scientific name Calcium Sulfate Dehydrate (CaSO4.2H2O), is a mineral that is extracted from gypsum mines in various forms. The purity of raw gypsum varies in the extraction process, and in our mining complex, gypsum stones with the highest purity and color quality are selected for processing and consumption. However, in many industries, such high quality and sensitivity are not necessary. The difference in the purity of gypsum stone determines its diverse applications.

Crystal gypsum

Crystal gypsum, also known as gypsum stone, is a mineral substance that is naturally found in crystalline form in mines. This crystalline gypsum is also referred to as gypsum stone and is known as selenite in some sources. The appearance of this stone bears a close resemblance to mineral salt crystals.

What makes this gypsum crystal valuable is its purity. The whiter, more crystalline, and overall purer the crystal, the higher its economic value. As you may know, in some mines in Semnan province, the world’s highest quality and purest crystals can be observed.

The extracted crystal gypsum is processed in the factory, often in the form of pieces mixed with impurities, mainly soil, and then reaches the end consumer. To process the crystal gypsum, it is first extracted from gypsum mines and transported to the factory. In the initial stage, the gypsum crystal is separated and graded for various purposes.

Crystal gypsum mines are scattered throughout the country, meaning this mineral is available in most regions of Iran. However, an important point is the difference in purity and transparency of the mineral in one region compared to others. Pure gypsum and crystal gypsum, due to their unique applications, often have export potential. Semnan gypsum, with various dimensions and particle sizes, is one of the country’s export products that is unparalleled worldwide and is exported with different purity percentages for various purposes.

Micronized plaster

Micronized plaster is a type of gypsum with unique characteristics and properties. It is produced using a mineral substance derived from raw gypsum rock (calcium sulfate dehydrate) and has a very high purity.

Characteristics of Micronized Plaster Powder

One of the main and important characteristics of this gypsum powder is its mesh size and particle size. Mesh size 200 and 100  microns are common numbers associated with this product. The significance of this characteristic lies in its impact on the mechanical, structural, and physical appearance properties of the product. This particle grading and softness can have various applications in the construction industry and other industries.

Setting time: Another characteristic of this gypsum powder is its higher initial setting time compared to regular gypsums. This feature provides the manufacturer with more time for final finishing, as it has a longer initial setting time and allows for proper final setting.

No need for sieving: Micronized plaster powder does not require sieving and is naturally soft and smooth. This feature greatly facilitates working with it.

White and shiny color: The white and shiny color of Micronized plaster makes it an ideal base for whitewashing and interior decorations.

Strength: The flexural strength of this gypsum powder is usually higher than 2.5 N/mm². This feature is highly significant as gypsum may not be considered a material subject to bending in construction, but high flexural strength increases its quality over time

High purity: This type of Semnan gypsum has a high level of purity and, as a natural mineral substance, is usually free from harmful impurities. A purity level of over 98% is expected in this type of gypsum.
